Our Mission
Educate Delawarean adults and youth on Opioid use, misuse, abuse, and addiction. Focus on prevention, recovery, and combat the surge in opioid abuse and misuse that has caused devastation in our community through prevention, abatement, and remediation services.
What Sets Us Apart?
GiddWell’s resources and services are dedicated specifically to the Opioid crisis and addiction epidemic. Our in-house full-time Physical Therapist will provide a non-pharmacological/opioid intervention for pain management. GiddWell’s values follow the framework for trauma-informed care, creating an environment of respect which fosters competency, sensitivity, and cultural awareness. How we plan to combat the Opioid misuse and abuse surge:
We cannot undo the loss of lives that have occurred due to the Opioid Epidemic, however, we can make a true impact in restoring lives of those currently battling with Opioid misuse, abuse, and addiction. In terms of prevention, we can impact and educate our community, by proactively saving family structures from the catastrophic effects of opioid misuse.
Who Are We? We are an Ecosystem with a holistic approach to mind, body, spirit, and social wellness. Our approach in providing childcare for program attendees combats one of the biggest reported limitations, which is the lack of childcare for guardians/parents/adults who are in recovery or attempting to recover from Opioid use, misuse, and/or addiction. In our research, we find that identifying a person’s “why” for usage could be a gateway to the solution. Reasons have ranged from stress, pain (emotional and physical) and other aspects. The root-cause analysis for Opioid use will help combat Opioid misuse as a negative solution to a problem or stressor.
The Giddwell program’s approach is neither judgmental nor discriminatory. We plan to work beyond the typical stigma of Opioid use or misuse, and assist each human with patience, understanding, and dignity.
